The Dual Career and Family Support of the University of Cologne coordinates measures at the university level and include support of dual careers in frame of recruitment procedures, improvement of available day-care facilities for children of scientists, and the maintenance of databases for available child-care facilities and reliable nannies.

Child care at internal SFB-Retreats
Cooperating with the local Dual Career Support & Family Support we are glad to offer from now on the possibility for child care during our internal retreats. A child care room will be set up right next to the seminar room and two qualified Master students take care of the children; the service is free and will be offered from now on during all SFB-retreats. Please contact us for additional information.

To minimise loss of scientific progress and hence career advancement during pregnancy and the first months of motherhood the SFB 635 finances support by providing scientific support personnel in the lab.

In 2011 the SFB 635 established a special parent-child-room (click on the image to the right to see a larger version), funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft. The room is equipped with two fully functioning computer workstation, so parents can work, while the little ones can play or take a nap in the back part of the room.
